Hershey’s Announces Women’s History Month Campaign With Trans Woman, Sparks Boycotts

Hershey’s launched a new campaign “Her for She” in honor of Women’s History Month. Their efforts to promote and celebrate women may be in vain, as the chocolate company is now facing backlash and threats of boycotting for their choice of spokesperson.

According to Hershey’s, the campaign will ‘shine a light on the women and girls who inspire us every day.’

Many are upset that one of these “women” is transgender activist, Fae Johnstone, who is being featured prominently on Hershey’s wrappers.

Hershey’s is now being accused of erasing women instead of honoring them with this move.

The issue of transgender women being included in female-focused ventures has been a hot button issue, especially with many biological females losing out on athletic opportunities to biological men with increased transgender inclusion in women’s sports.

People flocked to social media to announce that they will be boycotting Hershey’s in response to the campaign.
