McCarthy Dines with Sinema
Jake Sherman from PunchBowl and NBC News grabbed a photo of the newly elected Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy grabbing dinner out in DC with Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
Sinema declared herself an independent in December, leaving the Democrat party when they had maintained their majority in the Senate.
“We’ve seen in recent years that the parties have pulled folks to the political edges,” Sinema said while speaking with The Republic. “There’s an increasing demand that you kind of fit in with one political orthodoxy or the other. … I’ve never fit that.”
Sinema still caucuses with Democrats in the Senate.
Earlier today, Speaker McCarthy also met with President Joe Biden to discuss the debt ceiling and government spending.
