Reporter Claims Her Job is to Make Gov. DeSantis ‘Uncomfortable’ on Hot Mic – Fails Miserably

“No, my job is to ask the tough questions and make him uncomfortable, I guess,” said First Coast News reporter, Atyia Collins on a hot mic during a livestream of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recent event in Jacksonville.

Collins later added that her web manager encouraged her to “just run up to him” as he gets off the stage and “just yell questions at him,” showing just how bizarre and low journalistic ethics have become in this country.

The exchange was called out by Gov. DeSantis’ rapid response director Christina Pushaw on Twitter as she quickly posted the video with the comment, “Next time make sure you aren’t speaking into a hot mic while you wait to “make him uncomfortable””

Pushaw added the video of the awkward moment and the question which she mocked as being not-so tough…

Fox News reported that the questioning was about the bans on pornographic material in school libraries:

“Later on, as DeSantis took questions from reporters, Collins attempted to press him on the “emptied” school bookshelves in Duval County following his administration’s guidelines banning pornographic material from children’s books. She alluded to a video that went viral last month, which the governor quickly dismissed as being part of a “fake narrative.”

Gov. DeSantis snapped back at the reporter by stating:

“This is trying to create some narrative as if that — they hadn’t even put the books out yet to begin with, so there’s no need for all of that stuff. What they’re trying to do is they’re trying to act like somehow, you know, we don’t want books.”
