Elderly Biden: ‘How many times does he have to prove we can’t be trusted?’

President Joe Biden has recently drawn attention not only for his policy discussions but also for a series of public missteps and awkward moments, highlighting concerns about his verbal gaffes and physical stability. At a recent campaign rally in Tampa, Biden’s speech inadvertently provided fodder for conservative commentators when he questioned the trustworthiness of former President Donald Trump and, seemingly, his own administration. His statement, “I don’t know why we’re surprised by Trump. How many times does he have to prove we can’t be trusted?” led to immediate laughter among the audience and swift reactions on social media.

Conservative figures quickly seized on the gaffe. Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, noted the ironic truth in Biden’s blunder, tweeting, “Not satire.” Similarly, Tomi Lahren, a contributor for OutKick, remarked that even “a blind squirrel finds a nut.” This sentiment was echoed by Fox News contributor Guy Benson, who simply commented, “God, that’s good.”

Criticism extended beyond just the verbal slip. GOP strategist Chris LaCivita predicted that such moments from Biden would recur, quipping, “You’ll see this again and again and again…..” Radio host Tony Kinnett humorously speculated that Biden might inadvertently “endorse Trump at this rate,” underscoring the perceived severity of the mistake.

Adding to the conservative chorus, author Edward Dowd characterized Biden as a “perfect puppet,” suggesting he could neither recall his own lines nor count on his supporters to remember their lunch, a comparison to the forgetfulness of goldfish. Jake Schneider, GOP Rapid Response Director, concisely captured the sentiment of many critics by agreeing, “Joe — you can’t be trusted!”

This incident is part of a broader pattern of verbal gaffes by Biden, contributing to an image that some commentators are painting of a president who is not only verbally unreliable but also physically unsteady. Biden has been observed tripping and falling on several public occasions, including notable stumbles on the stairs of Air Force One. These physical missteps, combined with verbal errors, raise questions about his overall steadiness at a critical time in his presidency.

Moreover, Biden’s confusing statements extend beyond just this one incident. Earlier in the week, he faced backlash for his ambiguous comments on anti-Israel protests, which some labeled as his “Charlottesville moment.” He also perplexed listeners by urging people to “choose freedom over democracy,” a choice of phrasing that left many questioning his intended message.

As Biden continues his public engagements, both his words and actions are under increasing scrutiny. His frequent falls and slips, whether of the tongue or on the stairs, contribute to ongoing discussions about his capability to lead effectively and maintain his composure in crucial moments.
