Greta Thunberg Encourages Illegal Methods of Climate Activism on The View

Climate activist Greta Thunberg joined ‘The View,’ where she stated that we “wouldn’t be where we are today” if activists throughout history only stuck to legal methods. She also encouraged illegal forms of activism and warned of increased instances of activists breaking the law change doesn’t happen within the climate movement.

The View’s host Sunny Hostin prompted Thunberg to speak of her own arrest which went viral as the youth activist was seen smiling as she was carried away from a protest in a small german town that was set to be bulldozed for oil expansion. Videos of the interaction between Thunberg and the police directly before she was carried off stirred speculation that her arrest was a hoax or a publicity stunt.

Thunberg said that the incident was probably not the last of its kind. “Was this the first time you’ve been apprehended like that? And given how passionate you are, is it safe to assume this won’t be the last?” Hostin asked. Thunberg responded that “we are moving in the wrong direction when it comes to the climate.” She added, “So unfortunately, if we continue like now, we will probably see more and more people doing the same thing and me included.”
