Four Roses Single Barrel has become a staple amongst most bourbon drinkers. Alongside classics like Wild Turkey 101, Buffalo Trace and Jim Beam – Four Roses Single Barrel is a regular drinker for so many and a quality one at that.

But what do you know about Four Roses history, especially when it comes to their anchor product?

The Brewzle Youtube channel breaks down its history and its historic flavor in this great video.

According to the Four Roses official website:

“You’ll want to savor the taste of this premium Single Barrel again and again. It’s complex, full-bodied and surprisingly smooth with a delicate, long finish that’s unbelievably mellow. Drink straight up or on the rocks. 100 proof. 50% alcohol/volume.”

And its tasting notes are:

NOSE – Dried spice, pear, cocoa, vanilla and maple syrup.

PALATE – Hints of ripe plum and cherries, robust, full body, mellow.

FINISH – Smooth and delicately long.

Four Roses adds:
“Only Four Roses combines two mashbills with five proprietary yeast strains to create 10 distinct Bourbon recipes. Each recipe brings something different to the batch – and carefully mingling them allows us to achieve an endless range of flavor profiles to please any Bourbon lover.”
