State of Emergency Declared Over Pipeline Leak

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has declared a state of emergency after a California pipeline that carries gas to Las Vegas and Phoenix shut down.

He tweeted the following statement discussing the issues and what he plans to do to combat them:

The pipeline operator, Kinder Morgan told The Associated Press that the leak was discovered last Thursday – and that its pipelines were shut down while they worked to resolve the issue. According to Clark County, only one of two major pipelines that feed the Las Vegas area was shut down.

Clark County’s official twitter released the following statement about the ongoing issues:

According to multiple national reports, Nevada currently has the fourth-most expensive gas in the nation – this will not help that situation.
