Writer & Director of ‘The Matrix’ Says The Movie Was About the Trans Experience

If you thought the Matrix was about exploring the negative effects that could arise from artificial intelligence and technology in a dystopian future, you’d be mistaken.

According to the film’s Writer and Director Lilly Wachowski, the film is actually meant to be an allegory about the transgender experience.

Lilly Wachowski, formerly known as Andy Wachowski, wrote and directed the film alongside sibling Lana Wachowski, formerly known as Larry Wachowski.

In a video for Netflix Film Club, Wachowski made woke revelations about the famous film’s inspiration.
