Arizona Governor’s Press Secretary Resigns Following Tweet About Shooting “Transphobes”

Arizona Governor Kate Hobbs’s Press Secretary resigned following backlash she received after sharing a tweet that encouraged violence against “transphobes” shortly after a transgender individual killed three children and three adults in a christian school shooting.

Barry went private after the tweet went viral and received heavy backlash and multiple calls for Hobbs to fire her.

“The Governor does not condone violence in any form. This administration holds mutual respect at the forefront of how we engage with one another. The post by the Press Secretary is not reflective of the values of the administration. The Governor has received and accepted the resignation of the Press Secretary,” Hobbs’s office said in a statement.
