An article titled ‘Is coffee racist? How drinking coffee perpetuates white supremacy’ is going viral as many are criticizing the premise.

The article is a staff piece from ‘Afru,’ a “Black-led and majority Black-owned startup that combines fashion and streetwear with lifestyle commentary to create a strong social justice brand that is relevant and attractive to folks from all walks of life.”

In the piece, the anonymous author writes that “coffee is in fact horribly racist, and there’s data to back it up.”

They also write that “white folks drinking coffee perpetuates gentrification and racism.”

They go on to explain that supporting “specialty coffee” and local coffee is also racist.

The only solution? According to this Afru staffer, it’s to “boycott and divest.”

Before they finish the article, they also drop in that milk is racist because “Milk also became racist after white supremacists began using the white drink as a symbol of their skin. “

Screenshots of the article title spread quickly across Twitter and Instagram, causing mocking and critique.

A Twitter post about the article even got the attention of Elon Musk.

Welp, I hope if you’ve made it this far, I hope you’re dumping your coffee, repenting, and never enjoying anything ever again.
